The Urgent Need

The World's Urgent Need

• The world’s advancing industrialization and continued population growth are demanding ever increasing amounts of energy.

Consumption of fossil fuels has increased nearly 8 fold in 60 years.

Total global energy consumption is projected to increase from 15 TW in 2004 to more than 20 TW by 2030.

• Fossil fuel resources are finite and peaking.

Global oil resources are projected to peak between 2010 and 2015.

Worldwide coal production is projected to peak in the 2020 – 2040 timeframe.

Current alternative energy sources (e.g., wind, solar, hydro, biomass, nuclear, etc.) cannot reasonably fill the projected energy demand-supply gap.

• Finding a new, sustainable and clean source of very large base load energy is critical to the preservation of society as we know it today.
